The Resort

The Europe Hotel and Resort is one of Ireland's largest and most renowned spa hotels. In the grounds of this luxury 5 star hotel the waters of Killarney's largest lake, Lough Lein, reflect the wilderness of Kerry's magnificent McGillyCuddy Reeks Mountain range in the scenic South West of Ireland.

The Brief

Luke Hughes was commissioned to create an intimate spa relaxation bed experience for every client within this prestigious venue.

The EKO e+

Developed in a collaboration with Tomoko Azumi of the London-based t.n.a. design studio, 'EKO e+' incorporates angled, slatted screens that create privacy from other clientele, whilst allowing the user to lie on the bed and admire the view. A platform up-lighter provides mood lighting for the interior, the levels of which can be set up by the staff of each individual spa relaxation bed.

The EKO e+ spa bed can be right or left handed - ideal for creating a cocoon for two users.

The slatted screens were finished in a natural stain to blend into the scenic mountain backdrop.
