The Frick Collection, New York

The expansion and enhancement project of The Frick Collection by Selldorf Architects Design Architects (with Beyer Blinder Belle as Architects and Planners) provides ‘unprecedented access to the original 1914 home of Henry Clay Frick, enhances the visitor experience with new galleries, amenities and ADA access and restores the 70th Street Garden’.

The museum houses one of New York’s greatest art collections, housed in nineteen galleries, displaying old master paintings, furniture, porcelain, Renaissance bronzes, and French clocks.

The new plan creates critical new resources for permanent collection display, special exhibitions, conservation, education, and public programs, while upgrading visitor amenities and overall accessibility.

The project marks the first comprehensive upgrade and expansion to the Frick’s buildings since the institution opened to the public more than eighty years ago.

Selldorf Architects selected Luke Hughes to supply ‘Minerva’ folding tables for the Ian Wardropper Education Room. This room is now a gathering place—for students, programme participants, community groups, educators, scholars, and more—to connect with other art lovers and engage deeply with the collections at The Frick.
